Turning a spec sheet into a reason to buy

In a category where every listing shouts Bluetooth versions, the redesign sells three things buyers can feel: battery life, weatherproofing and call quality.

(01)— Main image

Theproblem.

  1. 01The main image showed a closed black case at 25% of the frame. At thumbnail size it was a dark blob beside forty identical blobs.
  2. 02The title and images led with 'Bluetooth 5.3', a spec every competitor shares and no buyer asks for.
  3. 03Reviews praised battery life and calls, but neither appeared anywhere in the gallery.
Redesigned main image: the case shown open and filling the frame, both white earbuds lifted above it so the product reads instantly.
Original main image: a small closed black case and two tiny earbuds under two lines of all-caps spec keywords and a red HOT SALE badge.

(02)— The original listing

Before.

  • Original main image: a small closed black case and two tiny earbuds under two lines of all-caps spec keywords and a red HOT SALE badge.

  • Original secondary image: the case beside a heading 'Specifications' and thirty lines of small spec text.

  • Original lifestyle image: the case tiny on a grey surface under a faint caption banner.

After,annotated.

(01) Main image3 notes

  1. White buds lifted out of the case give contrast against a category of black rectangles.
  2. The case fills 60% of the width. The old image used 25%.
  3. A single accent LED is the only colour, so the eye lands on the product, not a badge.

(02) Infographic3 notes

  1. The headline translates 40 hours into something felt: a full week between charges.
  2. Numbers set at display size so they survive the phone gallery.
  3. Call quality is framed as a situation, 'the street', not a spec.

(03) Size and scale2 notes

  1. One dimension only. Width is what decides whether it fits a pocket.
  2. A matchbox gives scale that works in every market.

(04) Lifestyle1 note

  1. Low light and one accent colour: premium without a person in frame.

(05) A+ content2 notes

  1. The tagline repeats the size promise, the main reason people switch from over-ear.
  2. Dark A+ contrasts with the white main image, so the page does not feel repetitive.

“Every competitor was selling Bluetooth versions. She made us sell a week of battery instead, and it worked.”
